Nostalgia vs Backlog

As someone who is now very much into adulthood - whether I want to admit it or not - I regularly find myself struggling with a few things. Well, many things, but with gaming, specifically... a huge rush of nostalgia for games that I put hundreds of hours in during my younger years, and my never-ending backlog of games I want to play through ASAP.

But it was only recently that I started to realize that the very backlog of games - the shelves of games that I always thought were awaiting my child-like enthusiasm to pick up on what I missed during my younger years, or new games I’m excited to explore…. That backlog is actually a big factor in why games I play today don’t live up to my nostalgia for older games.
