Together to the Top

This is Athene. Athene has started a movement on the internet for YouTubers big and small to unite and help each other reach “the top”.

Athene, much like myself was an old-school YouTuber, one who’s been making good, quality content for years, but was not allowed the same opportunities to become one of the “big” or “top” YouTubers, and he understands, while having kept his modesty, that he deserves a little more credit. But why be selfish and network-whore his way to the top? Why not bring the community up with him?

My thoughts exactly. “Together To The Top” is a movement for YouTubers of all kinds to help each other out; to collaborate, promote, and share to allow everyone involved to gain the attention they deserve and to reform the community into a much better place. With all the drama and selfishness going on with these “big” YouTubers, there’s no better time to get involved, help out a friend, and try and make sure we all reach “The Top”.

What you’re seeing right now is a piece by Do-Ho Suh, called Public Figures. This piece is basically the reverse of your typical monument you might see, and it tells an interesting story that people don’t always consider. While we make monuments to the “celebrities” and “heroes” of our time, we ignore all the little guys that have to sacrifice themselves to put the people at the top. That’s just how it is with these big-name YouTubers. They stand high and mighty on top the pedestal without allowing anyone else to reach them, while we struggle under the weight of the monument to keep them up in such a position.

“Together To The Top” suggests a change to that structure. Instead of risking ourselves to keep the top at the top, we need to work together to help each other make it there. And we can. Everyday more and more “little guys” are getting the attention and feedback they deserve but never before received, thanks to this movement. It’s time to get involved. It’s time to unite.

Recently a lot of us have had some issues with the way the big YouTubers handle themselves with the power we have given them. Things would be different if we were at the top, right? Check out this speech given by an awesome man by the name of SU3UR3ANLegend. Never forget your roots. Never forget who helped you reach the top.
